Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly appointed his cousin as deputy defense minister.
Putin fired four deputy defense ministers by presidential decree and appointed Anna Tsivileva to the role on Monday, Reuters reported. Tsivileva is the daughter of Putin’s cousin.
She was among key Russian figures who were sanctioned by the British government for their ties to the leader following his full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Tsivileva is president of the prominent Russian coal mining company JSC Kolmar Group, which also faced sanctions. She is married to Sergey Tsivilev, who was governor of the Keremovo region until May and is Russia’s energy minister.
